Preparation on PIX to ASA Migration?

Hi, I'm an entry level and recently certified CCSP and have a question about PIX to ASA migration. Since the PIX are soon to be end-of-life and Cisco is offering a promo on migrating to an ASA, I will be migrating several firewalls.

Once again I'm entry level and have never done this before so I'm looking to be well informed and prepared for the task. I've searched and read through the PIX to ASA upgrade configuration guides as well as instructions for PIX software upgrade to 7.X.

Can anyone give me suggestions on the top five most common problems when performing PIX to ASA migration?

I've searched TAC and did not find anything in regards of the most common problems. I'm also searching through NetPro.

Best Regards,

B

Here are some problems we faced :

1. some IP's in particular subnets were unreachable.

2. FTP transfers running very slow.

3. DNS resolve probelms when querying public DNS from the DMZ.

4. interface speed / duplex issues
