I understand how to configure redundant/backup ISP connection using static route tracking.
How do you accomplish this with a dynamic next-hop route on the backup connection such as with cheap DSL?

Hi,
in my opinion it doesn't work. The Problem is, that in pppoe you are getting the default-route from the ISP. So you cannot apply any track to this route.
The only solution I see, is to use a router for pppoe and a tranfer net between Router and ASA, doing static NAT on the Router.
Then you can apply a default-route with a track statement in direction to the pppoe router.

How about static PPPoE IP on the backup interface with a static default route entry to the public-ip from the own ASA backup-interface?

As long as you can set the back up route and poison it then you should be fine.
