trace routes stopping at the gateway router from inside
When I do a trace to an external address from inside our network it's stopping at our gateway router and times out for 17 times, then it reaches the external site I'm tracing. Why? This address I'm tracing is an internet page which we use to access previously. When I type the address to this site, it's telling page could not be displayed. Is it to do with our Firewall or our gateway router?
Re: trace routes stopping at the gateway router from inside
There is a particular host in our inside network which we have allowed to have access to a host on the outside through port 8143 in the acl_out access list. I can ping this host from our firewall. Previously when this access list was configured we were able to access this external host through port 8143. Now when we do a trace to this host it leaves our inside network and times out 17 times before it reaches this external host. Why is this? Is there something we're missing out?
