I have inherited a Cisco PIX 515R I was working on and I cannot load a image onto the PIX at all. I know all the little tricks and what you are suppose to do but it still doesn't take an image. The only thing I can get it to do..if I load ver 5.0.1 it asks for the activation key, which I have gotten a new one but it's telling me that it is invalid. The only thing that I think that it might is the flash is shot. Any Thoughts?

Before loading the new version you should have copied the activation key. What was the previous verion which you were using?

Hi,
Sounds like you don't actually have a valid activation key - the key has the serial number of the pix embedded in it so that you can't transfer them.
The only people who can issue keys are Cisco, so if it says "invalid key" I'd just get back to Cisco and tell them that the key they gave you doesn't work and get them to give you one which does work.
