Unable to set BOOT variable

Hi,

I am having problems setting the boot variable on ASA 5520. I downloaded the image from cisco.com. Please assist.

ASA/act(config)# boot system disk0:/asa804-k8.bin

WARNING: BOOT variable added, but not a valid image disk0:/asa804-k8.bin

Re: Unable to set BOOT variable

You should use tftp to transfer your files. Download the images from cisco.com on to your server.

Use tftpd32 or any other free tftp server software (Kiwi Cat Tools does it too), and then use ASA command line to 'copy tftp' images across.

I suggest you re-do this for your ASA image too.

Re: Unable to set BOOT variable

I believe your problem is that you need to download the latest ASDM image that is supported by 8.0(4), i.e. ASDM 6.2(1).

Copy that to flash, and change it using:

asdm image disk0:/asdm-621.bin

boot system disk0:/asa804-k8.bin
