Upgrade PIX from 6.1(3) to 8.0(4)

What would be the easiest way to do the upgrade?  I think I would have to do two interim upgrades first so is it possible to just reimage the device with 8.0(4) and apply the configurations from there?  Sorry for the newb question but I don't ever deal with updating firewalls.

Thanks!

Hello,

You could do it as long as you don't mind reconfiguring the device. Also, if

you do not have any conduits/alias commands, then it should be fine. You

might have to do some configurations based on the features you have enabled.

Hope this helps.

NT

Thanks!  We are good with memory etc requirements.  I think we're going to go with the incremental upgrades because it seems less likely for something major to go wrong.

One thing you may want to double check is that you have enough resources for upgrade. I.E. you are running a PIX 515 or higher and have the necessary memory amounts.

This document should have some more information.
