Upgrading ASA and ASDM image on failover pair

When upgrading the ASA and ASDM image on a failover pair do you only need to change the boot system image and asdm image path on one device or both?

Are there any tips to bear in mind when attempting this?

If you're keeping the old images on there, you probably need to specify the boot image on both, since you need to separately upload the image to both...

tips? what version are you going to/from?
