Using ASA to proxy Internet traffic

Kevin Melton

We want to use our ASA appliance at the edge of our network to send out our Https and http traffic to our AT&T Filtering server on the Internet for policy enforcement.

What specific features do I enable to make this happen?

Thanks

Kevin,

The ASA only supports passing URL's for filtering if the filtering server is one of the below:-

Websense Enterprise-filters HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP. It is supported by PIX firewall version 5.3 and later.

Secure Computing SmartFilter, formerly known as N2H2-filters HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and long URL filtering.

If the filtering server is none of the above - the only other way is to purchase the Content Security SSM for the ASA.

Do you guys use the Content Security SSM?

I know a number of customers that use the CSC module with a great deal of success.
