VPN Client unable to connect.

We have a cisco asa 5505 on which we have setup a group VPN. The VPN connections from all cisco vpn clients works fine except one.

The keep getting the below error

"Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the client.

Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding.

Connection Terminated"

Not sure why only one client won't be able to connect. The version we are using is 5.0.02 for VPN client.

Reinstall the client. If that does not work, try to run wireshark on the client and see where the issue is.

Thx

What opperating system is the PC running?  Is it 32 bit or 64 bit OS?

These are jsut a few more questions to answer to allow us to help you.

Thanks,

Kimberly

Thanks and Cheers! Kimberly Please remember to rate helpful posts.

I am running Windows XP 32 bit. I tried reinstalling the client too. But it didnt work.

Please check whether any persistent routes on client PC interfer with vpn-client related traffic.

thanks

Nope. No persistent routes.

Please run wireshark and client and post/analyse the results.

Thanks

Hello Pratik,

Yes, Mvsheik advise is good, also you can run debugs on the ASA to check if the traffic is reaching the ASA.

I know this is basic but confirm on the client you are placing the right tunnel group and pre-shared key ( if used)

Julio

Pratik,

was it working at all ? or it just stopped working was working earlier?

If it never worked then you might want to check there is on firwalling on the PC or any software that might prohibit the vpn client to establish a tunnel.

Also, please check the profile(.pcf) file. compare it with other PC's and ensure all the details are the same. Also check basic routing (default gateway) and all is configured properly

Firewall is turned off. Ran wireshark but could only see below packet for the destination (highlighted in blue)

I reinstalled the client but it doesnt help. it was working before. VPN works fine with other machines.

Hello Pratik,

Do you see any packets getting into the ASA?

Please run the debugs.
