Hi

For installation checklist you might want to see the datasheets available in cisco site.

Make sure you have sufficient space/power/cooling available before installign the device, without proper cooling you might risk in damaging the system as well as the line cards.

You can take out the power supply units , fan units and the line cards from the device while mounting the system onto the rack. This will help you in mounting a lesser weight chassis w/o any cards and units which will be comfortable to hold on during the installation process.

Once the chassis is mounted you can start installing the line cards and other units. Once properly installed you can connect the power supply to these devices. But make sure u keep the line cards in a ESD free wrapper to avoid any damage to the line card.

Though i dont have any checklist better way to anyalyse is to check the POST/Bootstrap process.

Connect the console and capture during these process so that it will help if you have any failures with the system.

Once the system is booted up check up whether its getting onto the switch prompt and allowing you to issue the commands both in user mode and in super user mode.

Check for show module ,show bootvar , show redundancy , show ip int brief etc., to make sure the lines are up and running and operational.

Just an addendum to spremkumar's post, 6500 can be configured in many ways depending on the Switch Modules (aka Ethernet Modules, WAN Modules, Services Modules) and each of them may have significant configurations.

You may want to check all the related module configurations for them. Also if PoE Ethernet modules are involved as premkumar said, make sure you have the correct Power Supply or else its gonna surprise you a lot!
