I want to compare 3 switchs but it's diffcult to find these informations :

- Protocol used for layer 2 redundancy

- Failover

- Latency

the 3 switches are:           Cisco Catalyst 4500-X (16 SFP+) 

                                       Cisco Catalyst 4948

                                       Cisco ME 4924

I'm not really sure what you are looking for, have you checked the Data Sheets for these devices.

As for, L2 redundancy protocol, you can have HSRP, VRRP or GLBP as the First Hop redundancy protocol.

I think that what you have proposed is a layer 3 protocols and no  layer 2.
