Configuring a Catalyst 2950 after a reset

After I reset a 2950 using the "write erase" command, can I access it with a browser or with CNA program instead of using terminal? I need to set everyport to fast/quick link to use for terminal services and that will take forever on two switches. If I can how would I do so?

Once the device has a IP address and http server is enabled you can enter that in browser to access device manager to change port settings. The same address can also be used in connect dialog of CNA to connect to the device and manage it.

Does the CNA need http active as well?

Re: Configuring a Catalyst 2950 after a reset

In order to access the 2950 from a browser or CNA, it needs to have an IP address.

However, I recommend getting used to the terminal commands. Much faster than browser or CNA config commands.

In your case, you can form a range of ports and execute a single command for all ports.

For instance, let's say you want to enable portfast in all ports, you type

interface range f0/1-48

spanning-tree portfast

The range option after the interface, grouped ports 1 thru 48 and those ports now have the exact same command.

Can I use terminal without using the serial cable though?

Yes, just assign an IP address and then use telnet instead of http.
