Hi all,
I need to acquire/buy the following tools for a lot of my network related activities. I need:
1) A tool that checks for cable splits/breaks, DHCP functionality and troubleshoot basic network problems and last but not least should be very portable. Ofcourse this could do other things but this is a minimal scope of functionality that should be supported.
2) A protocol anaylzer.
Upon doing some research I have basciallly outlined the fluke netool device and wireshark (formerly ethereal). I wanted to know if this is a good choice and if you guys have any better recommendations.
Thanks a lot.

For #1 I use the Fluke one-touch and for #2 Wireshark, I am happy with both and used them both for years.
