how to become a registered CCO Direct Customer?

hi, not sure if is the corretc area for posting this: I have a cisco account and i think i must to upgrade it in order to gain access do IOS sofware?

do i have to get a new account or how can i upgrade my current account?

does it cost?

can i upgrade to Direct Customer since i purchased my cisco 871 from ebay?

I believe you can get a SmartNet contract for any of the currently supported products, regardless of the source.

An account to access IOS updates (not upgrades) would come with a SmartNet contract.

Any Cisco reseller should be able to get you a contract (for example:

Each product has a variety of service levels. You'd need to select the service level for your specific product and determine the price from there.

Since there are so many options, it might be best to give the reseller a call, tell them what you have, and ask which Smartnet contract is appropriate.

When I mentioned "update" not "upgrade" that means that you buy support to get newer / different versions of the IOS you are already licensed for; the higher level IOS is a more expensive contract than a lower level (Enterprise: the most, IP only: the least). You can't (aren't supposed to) download a more-featured version unless you pay for the more-featured IOS (shouldn't download Enterprise if you have only paid for IP or IP Plus).
