I have a stack containing:
1 3750G (gigabit speed ports)
6 3750s
All are 24 port. The gigabit 3750g is the master. I want to upgrade the IOS to the crypto version: the only IOS image I can find is:
c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-37.SE.bin
which works fine on the standard 3750s when they are not stacked, however when stacked, the master (the 3750g) takes this image and when loaded as boot image, it complains of incompatible software so I must roll back.
Am I right in configuring a stack with 2 types of switch as this? - if so, how do I upgrade the IOS to the version I want?

this suggests I install the IOS and a member which can take the IOS will become the master: I want the switch which cannot take this software to be the master as it is a gig switch.

Hello,
If you use .tar format IOS, it easier than you think.
Use archive download-sw command (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps5023/products_command_reference_chapter09186a0080395bad.html#wp2273183)
The master switch copies teh new IOS to all members and set the boot system parameter (you can do that wit one command)
You need IOS with Web Based Dev Mgr:
