Re: Mac Address Under VLAN Interface

Hi,

It is a question like "what is the benefit of using a knife?"

Without an environment and any problems to solve a knife is completely useless, and it isn't worth even talking about.

Cheers:

Re: Mac Address Under VLAN Interface

I see, let me give more information

There are 90 remote office which are connected to head office with g.shdsl. head office use metro ethernet to combine these lines.

As you know, most of similar environment ISP gives a vlan ID for every remote office's lines that connected to head office.

So does we need in this environment ?

Re: Mac Address Under VLAN Interface

Hello Umut,

the change of the MAC address on an SVI is needed when you need two different SVI to talk to each other.

this may be useful when using VRFs for example.

In normal scenarios thare is no need for this but can be handy

Edit:

normally a multilayer switch uses the same MAC for all vlan SVI interfaces.

Hope to help

Re: Mac Address Under VLAN Interface

It Manually sets interface MAC address.

If you do a sh vlan you see a mac address associated with this VLAN.

with this command, you can change it to what ever MAC address you want
