mac addresses and switchports

Hi all, am i correct in saying a mac address cannot exist on more than one port on a lan, except for the uplink ports leading to that mac address ?

Re: mac addresses and switchports

That is correct. Each NIC will have a globally unique MAC address and that NIC can only be connected to a single port. So, with the exception of uplink ports, a given MAC address can only be on one port.

Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.
