New to Cisco and Need help badly

I accepted a job requiring Cisco equipment, which I'm not familiar with, and need help accessing the GUI screens on Aironet 1200 AP's. I've tried following the run-around with the on-line manuals and can't make it work. I need to know the specific steps on how to get my XP laptop to access the GUI so I can get these things set up. I have a console cable and can get the laptop to talk via that but am not familiar enough with Cisco command to get the static IP address set. I have tried USPI and only get an error stating the device did not answer. I've been on this for 7 hours now and am about ready to have target practice with the AP's. Any direction to documentation or simple instructions would be great. Thanks

Jeff

Congratulations on your new job.

Ok. You want to get an IP Address into the 1200 AP so you can HTML in?

enable

conf t

int bvi1

ip add 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0

no shut

exit

ip http server

end

wr

Make your laptop IP Address as anything BUT 10.0.0.1 and use the 255.255.255.0 subnet mask.

You can now HTML into the AP.

Thank You very much. Worked like a champ!

Now on to that 3560 switch...

Thanks again.

Jeff
