Re: New to Cisco, NEED learning advise

HI

Can you reply me which version of IOS you have in your Cisco router.

For that you just go to router Terminal.

And type the SHOW VERSION command.

Thanks

Re: New to Cisco, NEED learning advise

hi Sunny,

first of all let me know which image you are having in your router with the version number. there are two types of images are there one is .bin formated and other is .tar formated. .bin file is only the cisco IOS and when ever we are talking about .tar file then it is having two file one is .html and other is .bin. In .tar form file .bin is Cisco IOS and .html is the webbase file...hop this will help you.

still if you want further help then post the image and cisco ios name...

and when ever you are going to configure Ethernet port using cli you need to use followin comands

1700>enable

1700#conf t

1700(confg)# interface ethernet

sunny here you first check it out which ethernt port you are having ethernet or fastethernet.

1700(conf-if)#ip address A.B.C.D subnetmask

#no shut

remember to rate the post if it helps

regards

Devang
