POE Question for WS-C3650-48PS

FAQ document for Cisco Catalyst 3650 Series Switches indicates for all POE PID's on this model full poe is attainable either by 2 power 640VAC supplies or one large 1025 VAC.

Q. Can the PoE budget of Cisco Catalyst 3650 switch be increased by replacing its power supply with a
high-capacity power supply?

A. Yes, the available PoE budget of a Cisco Catalyst 3650 PoE switch can be increased by either replacing its power supply with a higher capacity one or adding a second PoE power supply model (640W or 1025W).

We have WS-C3650-48PS with 1 640W power supply,  Vendor indicates this model can not achieve full Poe with second power supply 15.4 across 48 ports?  They are insisting on returning this model WS-C3650-48PS and replace with WS-C3650-48FS with 1 1025W?

I am very confused as they said the internals of the switch models are different ?  Does any one have a WS-C3650-48PS with 2 640 PS or 1 1025  and can show  "sh power inline" ?

In most all my experience most switches add to the POE budget with second power supply just how the Cisco FAQ explains this.

According to Cisco FAQ " Cisco Catalyst 3650 Series Switches" page 4 Table 4 it states all POE PID's cabable of Full POE.

Hi

With 2 power supply it should be ok.
Take a look on Cisco power calculator tool: http://cpc.cloudapps.cisco.com/cpc/PDS.cpc

Thanks

This is correct. Cisco indicated the PoE budget increases with second power supply across all PIDs. The 3650-48PF is a default PID "purchase with FULL PoE on 1 single Power supply.

Second check according to the PoE calculator - shows what the potential PoE budget is if one is to purchase a second Power supply for PID --> WS-C3650-48PS.

Thank you,
Mike

The vendor is telling the truth.
If you want 15.4w to all 48-ports then the switch model to use is 3650-48PF.
