Re: Populated vs Unpopulated Port

I would assume that populated would indicate that the port has a cable in it, and unpopulated would indicate that the port was empty.

Re: Populated vs Unpopulated Port

Hi,

I think that port populated may be a port with a GBIC or SFP module inserted; a port unpopulated may be a port to be populated with a module.

Re: Populated vs Unpopulated Port

As Martin said above, a populated port means a cable plugged on the port and is active.

unpopulated could be either cable not connected on that port or the port is not active

Re: Populated vs Unpopulated Port

Ok,

It may be also: "the term populated refers to bay or slot to be populated with network module or card".

Best regards.
