Re: reverse telnet

karim

You are using the first TTY line for your reverse telnet. My first guess is some kind of connectivity problem. Can you confirm that you are connecting that first line to the device to which you want to console? Can you specify what kind of cable connection you are using? Can you confirm that the device to which you want to console will accept a direct connection on the console port?

Re: reverse telnet

thanks for the input, here is some more info that may help

I have a octal cable line 1 going to sw1 , 2 going to sw2. 3 going to R1 and 4 going to R2..on the server I did config a the loopback0 with 192.168.10.10....then I did configure the

# ip host sw1 192.168.10.10 2001

# ip host sw2 192.168.10.10 2002

# ip host r1 192.168.10.10 2003

# ip host sw2 192.168.10.10 2004

Hi Karim,

Can you post the configuration of the termserver.

Mohammed Mahmoud.

Re: reverse telnet

Hi, ocporbust

There are two async ports on 2511 router. The lower port is labeled ASYNC 1-8, and the upper port is labeled ASYNC 9-16. Could it be that you are connecting to the upper port which is line 9-16?

Re: reverse telnet

Hi Karim,

The configuration is fine, do you face problems when trying to connect to all the devices or just this switch.

Re: reverse telnet

MO

I am not able to access all of them .. all I get is open message and its stays there.. I am going to see if I can connnect directly to each device

Re: reverse telnet

Karim,

If you can access them directly then it is most probably a cabling issue.

Re: reverse telnet

Hi Karim,

Its obvious a problem in the cables or in the Async module or the termserv, can you attach a file containing the final configuration, show version, show diag and show lines, and can you please try to reload the termserv.

Re: reverse telnet

sorry for the delay, I was wokring on My ccna , I should commit to take it soon . but as far as the connection I think is the async module . I used the other one and it works , I have to chng the config for the loopback but most important is that I did sometroubleshooting . lol// nice jobs guys and thanks for the help .

Re: reverse telnet

Hi Karim,

I am glade to know that you've finally solved your problem, it really sounded to be a hardware issue as everything else looked OK, anyway good luck with your exam :)

Re: reverse telnet

What is the config of console on target device?

A silly question - did you try pressing enter many times and wait for some time after the Trying .....Open line?
