If I have a router with 2 interfaces, say 192.1.1.1 and 172.1.1.1, both /24 mask and I advertise these in eigrp, first of all what gets advertised, is it the interface and network, and also If I had a network statement in eigrp saying network 10.0.0.0 but didnt have any interfaces on this address would it advertise the network ?
thanks

Carl .... check out this link; it's to Cisco Internetworking Guide Online. The equivelant book is many inches thick.
The online version is broken down into nice short, easy-to-read segments, covering all aspects of basic networking and internetworking.

It will explain everything ....
Good Luck

For the network 10.0.0.0 to be avertise, the network have to appear in routing table as direct connected. One interface have to get ip address on this network .
