You definitely need to implement a vlan only for your customers and defining this vlan as private. The configuration is quite straight forward and you can feel quite safe for your infrastructure . It would be a good idea to dedicate a dhcp pool only for your customer network so to be able to separate data traffic to layer 3 too. More complex solutions are available but I would stick to this one since very reliable.
