sfp interconnect between 2960 and 3560

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the sfp interconnect cable can be used between 2960-48TC-L and a 3560-48PS-E?

Thanks

Andy

Re: sfp interconnect between 2960 and 3560

in short, YES.

the 3560-48PS-E has the 4 SFP ports.

the 2960-48TC-L has two 'dual purpose' uplinks which can support SFP or copper.

(you can only use one type at a time; not SFP and copper simultaneously)

please see the following links for more info on those two devices:

Re: sfp interconnect between 2960 and 3560

Hello,

I am not sure if the 3560 SFP Interconnect Cable can be used to connect anything else but 3560 switches. The cable is not listed in the 2960 data sheets, and I have never heard of it being used to connect 3560s to other switches.

Interesting to know if this might be an undocumented feature, if you can test this, can you post the results ?

Regards,

GNT

Re: sfp interconnect between 2960 and 3560

Nope, 2960 will send these messages if you connect that cable:

%PHY-4-SFP_NOT_SUPPORTED: The SFP in Gi1/0/49 is not supported
%PHY-4-SFP_NOT_SUPPORTED: The SFP in Gi1/0/50 is not supported
