Why is VLAN1 not shown for Fast 0/24 in "show vlan brief", but it is for "show vlan id 1"? What am I missing about the two commands?

Re: show vlan brief versus show vlan id 1

Hi

Is the port fa0/24 a trunk with native VLAN of 1?

Can you post the outputs of ;

show interfaces fa0/24 switchport

show interfaces fa0/24 trunk

Re: show vlan brief versus show vlan id 1

Thats why the link is a trunk , I believe the show vlan brief tells you what vlan the access ports (non trunked) ports are assigned to .

Re: show vlan brief versus show vlan id 1

Glen,

That's the answer I'm looking for. It appears the 'brief' command simply does not include trunk links, but I could not find that in Cisco's documentation. Just wanted to be sure I was not missing anything.

Thx

Phil
