Subnetting Lower half of an Address

Could someone be kind to help me with the Lower half subnet address of 192.168.3.2/24?

Hi,

If i understand your question right then the lower half subnet is from 192.168.3.1 to 192.168.3.126 (0 and 127 are omitted as the subnet ID and the subnet broadcast address), or in another format 192.168.3.0/25.

or if you want to know what the address is in host/mask notation, than it is:

Address:....11000000.10101000.00000011.00000010

Mask:.........11111111.11111111.11111111.00000000

Network:....11000000.10101000.00000011.00000000

Mask in host/network notation:

nnnnnnnn.nnnnnnnn.nnnnnnnn.hhhhhhhh

(network is Address bits, where mask bits are ones)

Or if you do want to plan subnetting like Mohammed suggested, then it all depends as to how big of a network you need. If you want point to point link with just two addresses, then you can use 30 bit mask, like so: 192.168.3.0/30

Where 192.168.3.0 is network, 192.168.3.1 and 192.168.3.2 are usable addresses and 192.168.3.3 is broadcast.
