Can this only be done via the console port, or will it use the ethernet port also ?

Re: tftpdnld in rommon

You set up the parameters in via the console, but the actual transfer only happens through one of the network ports (usually Ethernet).

Through the console, you can only use xmodem.

Good Luck

Re: tftpdnld in rommon

Hi

(1)Are you saying that "tftpdnld" can be given through the ethernet port? Then the answer is no.

(2)If you are saying that it used through console, then it uses ethernet port only to download the image.

More questions?Pls revert back, b'coz u are not clear in your statement.

Pls rate helpfulposts.

Re: tftpdnld in rommon

You will need set the variables for tftpdnld such as the image name, tftp server, ip address etc. through console connection, but the tftp download will occur through the ethernet port.

See documentation:

Re: tftpdnld in rommon

Hi Carl,

The TFTPDNLD utility comes as a great rescue whenever your are struck with a blank FLASH i.e. no IOS in the Router / Switch.

With TFTPDNLD, you set up all the variables in the ROMMON TFTPDNLD command.

In general you need to setup the following points in the very same syntax as mentioned in the command itself and it pulls the IOS file in seconds as compared to mins through XMODEM via the Console Port.

For a detailed information please go through the following page

Please rate if it helps.

Regards.
