Hi,

Is there a particular setting to apply on Cisco Catalyst 2960 / 3750X switches if the DNS role is dedicated to a windows 2003 server  ?

Catalyst 3750X is used as core switch and Catalyst 2960 is used as acces switch -

Is it better to transfer the DNS role to the switch  3750X ?

Hi,

no particular settings to make and switches can't be DNS servers, only routers can as far as I know.

Regards

Alain

Since the DNS role has been dedicated to Windows 2003, clients on your network just need to acquire the IP address of mentioned DNS server via DHCP. So for using DNS server there is no need to configure anything on switches.
