WSUS installation suggestions

I have to set up an update server for my network. I actualy have 2 completly separated networks. One that has access to the Internet and the other one has no access to Internet. They are in a different IP range, they cant see each other. I want to install an WSUS server so that both networks will have access to the server to download their patches. I would like to have some suggestions on How I should set this up. Where should I put the update server. What is the best setup ?

Thank you

chuck

Re: WSUS installation suggestions

The WSUS server definitely needs to be on the network that has access to Interet, since it needs to download the updates from Microsoft before serving the update clients.

Then, you'll need to find a way to allow the clients on the other network (the one w/o Internet access) to access the WSUS server.

This probably means you'll have to do inter-VLAN routing, w/ ACLs to allow WSUS access only.

Please rate the post if it helps.
