1142 invalid license?

Today is my first day setting up wireless... ever.  A 5508 and a set of 1142 APs showed up on my desk.  This isn't going well.  I upgraded the firmware of the 5508 to Software Version                 6.0.196.0 because otherwise the AP and WLC couldn't see each other on the same network (known issue?).

After upgrading the firmware of the WLC, the AP booted and magically downloaded a new firmware: (C1140-K9W8-M), Version 12.4(21a)JHA with LWAPP image version 6.0.196.0.

Here's what the 1142 is saying:

*May 21 22:26:24.817: %CAPWAP-5-CHANGED: CAPWAP changed state to JOIN
*May 21 22:26:24.899: %CAPWAP-5-CHANGED: CAPWAP changed state to CFG
*May 21 22:26:24.901: %DTLS-3-BAD_RECORD: Erroneous record received from 10.136.3.134: Duplicate (replayed) record

Here's what I can see in the 5508 log for that AP:

Last Error Occurred: Lwapp configuration request rejected

Last Error Occurred Reason: Invalid License in configuration request

The documentation I have found is not helping too much:

* Cisco IOS Software Configuration Guide for Cisco Aironet Access Points

Any suggestions for different docs?  Any ideas to resolve my license issue?  Any recommendations for a good book on this topic?

Hi Mark,

Whats the APs complete model number?? If the WLC 5508 Configured Country Code is US and if we are using any other country regulatory domains.. we may see this issue..

Follow the below steps..

WLC >> Monitor >> Wireless >> Country >> select the country regulatory domain the AP belongs to >> Apply.

This may resolve the issue.
