I've been having 2 strange problems and could use some advice.
1. using bridges to connect a small dorm and people are seeing terrible throughput. I'm seeing that the local(on-campus side) ethernet interface is slow when I try to telnet or ping, but then picks up speed after awhile. I'm seeing around 6 Mb difference between switchport and bridge enet interface
2. I seem to remember a way to align 1310 bridges using the lights on the back. I thought you turned on the lights on one end then moved the antenna and the lights allowed you to see when you where centered..Anyone know if this is true and how to do it?
I've gone through the doc, change parms to match what I've read and it's kinda worked. But I'm still seeing slow/fast results from my users.

It's true, what you need is to configure the "station-role..." for the interface dot 0 to "...install (automatic/root/non-root).
If you choose automatic, the bridge will create a SSID named install (or something like that) and it will act as a non-root bridge for the first 30 secs. if it doesn't find a root, the bridge will turn into one.
I recommend you to use root or non-root configs, the bridge will create a new SSID named tsunami)
By the way, I'm also having throughput problems. Regular web browsing doesn't affect the wireless link, but downloads slows the link, and I got no idea why. Our wireless link has a BW of 12mbps and our internet conection has only 2mbps, the rxload doesn't even reach 25/255!
