1532 AP/2504 controller

Hi

We have just purchased some new 1532I AP's when they are connected, (the same way as a 3602) they will not associate with our 2504 controllers!

The 1532 blinks red/green/amber as if there is insufficent power but that is not the case

the log from the AP shows it cycling thorugh some of our 2504's

*Mar  1 00:24:20.847: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Discovery response from MWAR 'xxxxxxxxxxxxx'running version 7.3.101.0 is rejected.

*Mar  1 00:24:20.847: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Failed to decode discovery response.

*Mar  1 00:24:20.847: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: CAPWAP SM handler: Failed to process message type 2 state 2.

*Mar  1 00:24:20.847: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Failed to handle capwap control message from controller

*Mar  1 00:24:20.847: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Failed to process unencrypted capwap packet from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

your help will be apreciated.

John,

Get the MAC address of the 1532 and add that to the Mac filter list

Re: 1532 AP/2504 controller

You need v7.6 for that AP

Per your log:
MWAR 'xxxxxxxxxxxxx'running version 7.3.101.0 is rejected.

Thanks

How do i get a copy my current profile will not let me download a copy?

Re: 1532 AP/2504 controller

Well... you can either ask your vendor who you purchased the 1532 from to get you that code, or you can try to open a TAC case since this is a new AP and see if they can publish that code for you.

Thanks,

Scott

Re: 1532 AP/2504 controller

I loaded the new firmware into the 2504, the 1532 picked up a IP address & time from the 2504, but the 1532 still does not associate with the controler (does not show up under the wireless tab)?

we have 4 x 2504's do they all need to be upgraded to 7.6? I have only upgraded the controller with the lowest IP as this is the one all new AP's associate with first?

It looks like the 1532 is continualy re-booting every few minutes!

This is an part of the 1532 log

1532 AP/2504 controller

Can you please post the following output:

1.  WLC:  sh sysinfo;

2.  AP:  sh version

The most common culprit is the AP you purchased may have the INCORRECT regulatory domain.  For example, the AP will be installed in the US so the Regulatory Domain should be "-A" but you got an AP destined for, say, Germany which has a Regulatory Domain of "-E".

1532 AP/2504 controller

The AP was purchased in New Zealand for use in New Zealand

Please post the output to the AP command of "sh version".

I'm in Australia and we have purchased APs with the wrong regulatory domain.  You can purchase, in NZ, an AP with the wrong Regulatory Domain.  It will depend on your reseller to flag this.

Re: 1532 AP/2504 controller

John,

The WLC that this AP is connecting to isn't in v7.6. Look at the log:

*Jan 22 23:08:17.079: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Discovery response from MWAR 'xxxxx'running version 7.3.101.0 is rejected.

The AP is rejecting the image. You need to upgrade the WLC. I would upgrade all of them if this AP might join any of them.

Re: 1532 AP/2504 controller

Did you add the MAC address of the 1532 to the Mac filter of the WLC?

Re: 1532 AP/2504 controller

No, we have never had too in the past, 3602 & 1242 just pick up an IP address & the image from the 2504 automaticly.

We have 4 x 2504 controllers, this morning I upgraded the firmware on the one with the lowest IP (this is the one all AP's start off associating with).

The show sysinfo from the 2504 shows it running 7.6.100.0

Some of what you are seeing there is the 1542 “giving up on the 2504 running 7.6 & then moving on to the other 2504’s that are still running the old firmware.

If you want I can e-mail you the full AP error log

Hmmmm ... That's odd.

Go here:  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps5679/ps5861/product_data_sheet0900aecd80537b6a_ps10981_Products_Data_Sheet.html

Go to Table 3.  Look at the AP1532 column and match with NZ.  There is no "X" to mark the spot.  Wierd.

Yes you will. This is a requirement for mesh AP's.
