1532, Bridge

I am proposing a 1532 AP to be used as a bridge between 2 buildings separated 500 m apart. My question is can these 1532's be used as a standalone  or we have to use a controller for this ? I coudnt find a document where it says it can be used as a stand alone. If it has to have a controller, which is the cheapest controller i can use ?

Also, it says it is POE, does it mean it can be powered through a swtich ? or does it need a power injector ?

Thanks

hi talatk, yes the 1532 can be used as a standalone. here is a link to confirm

for more information or if you need further assistance please feel free to send me an email

hope this helps!

Thanks,

what about POE ? can it be powered by a switch or we have to have a power injector ?

Hi,

depends on the switch some switch offer POE capabilities and some doesnt.

Well the switch will be obviously a POE switch, a 2960s probably. But the specs say that the 1532 supports PoE-In ? can we power up the AP with that port from a switch ?

According to my understanding if a switch is POE+ , we can connect the AP to it to get power as it required 25.5 W of power.

The AP 1532E operates with PoE+ or 802.3at, which supplies 25.5 W of power.

correct me if im wrong. According to my understanding i wont need a power injector if my switch is POE+

Yes, I believe you won't need a power injector.

The 1532 access point supports these power sources:

  • DC power – 24- 57 VDC
  • Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)

The 1532 access point can be powered via the PoE input from an in-line power injector or a suitably powered switch port. Depending on the configuration and regulatory domain, the required power for full operation is UPoE. For the

1532E, 802.3at power is sufficient for all regulatory domains and full 2x2 MIMO operation on both 2.4 and 5 GHz radios. Either the AIR-PWRINJ4= or the AIR-PWRINJ1500-2= power injector can be used.
