1532E poor signal strength

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to use a couple of 1532E access points in bridging mode for a point-to-point bridge betwen two buildings, 180m apart with a clear line of site. I am using the AIR-ANT5114P2M-N= directional antenna but can only pick up a signal of -76 dBm from the Root AP 180m away.

I should also explain that the non root bridge AP has its radio interfaces shut down at present as it appears the PoE from the 3560 switch is not sufficient to power the device. Interestingly, the Root AP does appear to have enough power from a PoE port on a 2960 switch and the 5GHz interface is up and up. So with regard to the power for the non root AP, I am thinking of using a AIR-PWRINJ1500-2= inline power injector to resolve the lack of power.

Back to my original issue though, the signal strength looks very poor and I don't know why? Is there something I am missing in the config?

1532 Require PoE+/802.3at &

1532 Require PoE+/802.3at & your 2960 may not provide enough power. Below is from the given 1532 deployment guide

Hi Rasika, Do the attached

Hi Rasika,

Do the attached configs look okay to you?

Regards,

Paul.

Hi Paul,Not sure why you

Hi Paul,

Not sure why you configure power to 6mW on 5GHz & 16mW on 2.4GHz. Leave it for default unless you have particular reason (no power local command under radio interface). Also get rid of "power client 12" under radio 0

This could also be contributed for poor signal. Make sure you power the AP using proper power source & leave those radio config to default (which is set to maximum). Rest of your AP config looks ok to me.

Hi Paul, I am curious if you

Hi Paul,

I am curious if you got this issue resolved?  I am in the process of deploying the exact AP/Antenna combination and want to avoid any issues if possible.  We are about to start testing this.

In my deployment, the distance between the bridges is approximately 1,700 feet with direct line of sight.
