Re: 3850 MC connect with 3502 AP

Yes it will work if you have 5760 WLC as MC and 3850 as MA and then you can connect AP to 3850.

Here is the link:

If you dont have 5760 then use asin case 1 : directly connect to MC(3850)

Re: 3850 MC connect with 3502 AP

Hi,

APs must be directly connected to the 3850 for it to work in MA or MC mode. you have to directly connect AP to 3850 (not via transient switches)

3850 MC connect with 3502 AP

Hi Youn,

as per my knowledge,

You need to connect on MC... After that, all APs that connect to a 3850, will terminate to that switch. The MC is like the WLC function.

Q. Does the Cisco Catalyst 3850 support indirectly connected access points?

A. No. The Cisco Catalyst 3850 switch will always terminate the CAPWAP   tunnel locally. Pass-through mode or indirectly connected access point   is not supported at this time.

3850 MC connect with 3502 AP

thank you for the answer

as you can see

1.  3850(MC)--------APs    <-- at this time working without error

2. 3850(MC)------3850(MA)-----APs   <----- at this case get error message

here is my guess

1.in 2 case doesn't work. when i use MC. case 2 can be working with WLC5760.

2.if i have no WLC5760 I can use only Case 1.

do you think am i right?

Re: 3850 MC connect with 3502 AP

Check this:

http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le21/le39/docs/tdw_185_qa.pdf

Question: Do the APs need to be connected directly into 3850 or can the 3850 be used as a distri switch ?

which attaches to the AP?

Answer: yes 3850 only supports directly connected AP's
