802.11a/n radios are down

Three new APs, 3602i, were connected to a WLC 5508,7.2.111.3. All three APs show 802.11a/n radios are down. I couldn't login to the AP with same credential for APs in other offices.

Any one has the same issue before.

Eric,

Make sure you enable the radios from the AP on the GUI of the WLC... I'm assuming this is lightweight.

Eric,

Can you post the output to the following commands:

1. WLC: sh sysinfo; and

2. AP: sh version

Maybe the AP has the incorrect Regulatory Domain.

That's one bad code you're running.

See what I mean? If you run a good code, you won't see this. Upgrade to the latest 7.4.X code. And don't forget to upgrade the FUS too.

Can you check that your 802.11a is enabled? Go to Wireless > Accesspoint > Radio > 802.11a/n > choose the AP and make sure the radios are enabled.

Ok, console into one of them and reload them. Post the entire bootup sequence. Do not leave out anything (other than IP address and SSID).

Dude, it's your call. All I'm saying is that your code caused your WLC to crash and THAT IS NOT GOOD. I don't really care how many controllers you have that's running the same code. A crash is a crash. And it's bad. Wait `til you have 500 APs running and you're controller crashes. Not nice.

Australia support both -Z and -N for 3602I. -N is for older AP.

When the code you are using was released, the "-Z" Regulatory Domain was not yet formalized. So this means that, yes, -Z and -N are the same but the code you are using does NOT understand a Regulatory Domain of -Z.

I believe "-Z" was formally ratified early 2013. Your code was released in September 2012. The first code to support "-Z" for the 3600 is 7.5.102.0 (release date 31 July 2013).

New -Z Product IDs are introduced for Cisco 3600 Series access points. The -Z PIDs provide enhanced 5-GHz spectrum coverage for

Australia and New Zealand.

If you really don't want to believe what I'm saying, then please feel free to open a Cisco TAC Case.

Leo is correct, to support Z regulatory domain you have to go for 7.6.x.x as 7.5.x.x was deferred. If you are deploying these Z regulatory domain AP across multiple controllers then have to upgrade all of them.

It is better manage Z domain AP using one WLC & get first hand experience with this new 7.6.x.x code prior to upgrade all of your controller onto that software version.

As a side note, even in IOS-XE 3.3.1 (for 3850/5760) this regulatory domain is not supported yet. It is expected next software release of IOS-XE address this issue.

No other solution other than upgrade WLC code to 7.6.130.0 or 8.0.100.0 for the moment. Why are you hesitant to move onto 7.6.x ?

Upgrade to 7.6.X is your only solution. Read the Release Notes for 7.5.102.0 (Deferred version):

New –Z Product IDs are introduced for Cisco 3600 Series access points. The –Z PIDs provide enhanced 5-GHz spectrum coverage for Australia and New Zealand.
AnchorThe UNII-2 Extended channels in 5470-5725 (excluding 5600 to 5650) are supported.

Cisco does not recommend anyone using 7.5.X so your next stop will be 7.6.130.0. If you don't upgrade to 7.6.X then your AP won't join ANY controller.
