How to configure speed over 22~23Mbps on 802.11g or 802.11a modulation?

I have been tested ftp up/down speed and chariot performance test. the result is always 22~23Mbps.Is there any method to make client speed over 22~23Mbps? (like tunning data-rate)

My accesspoint model is AIR-AP1231AG.

thank you.

You can configure speed with the following command

speed basic 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0

While the signaling rate is ~54Mbps, the actual throughput (as you have found out) is really closer to ~22-23Mbps.

You can do things like short preambles, increase the beacon times (decrease the beacon rate ... make the time between beacons longer), reduce the frag size (if you're in an environment with interference), etc ... but you are already pretty close to max.

What kind of stream description/emulation did you use with Chariot? Were you using TCP or UDP?

If you have any 802.11b clients associated, that will also negatively impact performance of an 802.11g system (it runs in "protection mode").

Good Luck

Scott
