Access Point not connecting with 1G ethernet

HI everyone.

I just noticed this. I have different series of AP , 1142 , 1252 , 3500 , 3700. it is happening on any series. if I set the duplex and speed to Auto some of my AP are connecting with 100mb not 1Gps.

if I set duplex to full and speed to 1000 then the AP shows not connected on the switch and the AP it self is blinking like a Christmas tree!

I have different series I switches as well and it happening on all of them. they are Gig

this is the 3850 series out put of the interface

 description Class7.1A
 switchport access vlan 10
 switchport mode access
 spanning-tree portfast
end

speed and duplex is auto and it is connected with 100mb!

any comment appreciated

Usually AP gig port should go

Usually AP gig port should go to 1Gbps full-duplex. You should not set speed/duplex manually & leaving them auto/auto is the recommended practice.

Can you run the below on few of your switches & see Full-duplex 100Mbps negotiation occur only for AP connected switch ports.

show interfaces status | in a-full a-100 10

I would check the IOS version of these switches as well.

Hi my friend Manannalage

the switch ios is 03.03.00.SE

i have other APs (same series) running on 1G on the same switch

here is the proof :)

can it be the cable quality dropping from 1000 to 100? I'm going to un-mount the AP  from the wall and connect it directly to the switch to see what will happen

Hopefully things will calm down by end of the year (once I complete my CWNP studies). I have done a basic debug client post per your request.

Enjoy it

HI. for any one later use on

HI. for any one later use on this topic.

I connected the AP directly to the switch and got 1G speed. it was the freaking patch lead.

Re: HI. for any one later use on

I had the same situation, and here also the culprit was the patch cord.
