Adding a guest WLAN

We currently have a 5508 that is used for our tablets and laptops to get to our servers and internet as well as a seperate WLAN for Cisco phones. All of it utilizes just one port on the 5508 going to a 3750X which handles routing to the VoiP VLAN.        .

We would now like to setup a guest WLAN using a completely seperate internet line from a Lynksys cable modem/router.

Is this possible and can someone point me to some documentation? I am thinking it would use a seperate port on the 5508 for the incoming internet but still use the same AP's our internal WLAN's use. The wireless controller is completely new to me. Thanks.    .

Adding a guest WLAN

HI Robert,

You can connect the ADSL connection direclty to the WLC on another port.  You just need to create an interface with an appropriate IP address for the ADSL connection.

This link may helps:

Re: Adding a guest WLAN

Just to add... Make sure LAG is disabled on the WLC if you use anothe port on the WLC.

If LAG is enabled and you plan on using LAG in the future, you will need to create a layer 2 vlan and create a dynamic interface on the WLC and trunk the port in the switch that the WLC is connected to. Then connect the ADLS router to that layer 2 vlan. This way you force the guest traffic on a layer 2 and it's not routed in your network.

With LAG disabled, it's best to connect the WLC and the ADLS on a switch unless the ADLS has a gigabit port.
