Hi, We have configured 802.11ac for 5GHz Antenna but we do not have any client which supports 802.11ac for now. We have only windows7 PC which supports only 802.11b/g/n. Please let me know how do i test 802.11ac and confirm if it is working. Is it possible to test it with any third party plugin which can be installed on Win machine and test it?

There are few clients if you find any (Nexus 5 phone, Samsung S4 phone, Macbook Air, Macbook Pro).

What AP models do you have (3700 or 3600 with ac module). You should run IOS-XE 3.3.1 for the 3700. Here is some ac test perfromance with 5508 & WLC 7.6 code in my environment.

Here is some 5760 configurations which may be useful to you

Hi MAC,

Then you have to get a USB wireless adapter that will support 11ac. You should be able to find different products in the market

Here is one product (I haven't test it myself, but should work)

http://support.linksys.com/en-apac/support/adapters/AE6000

On your 5760 802.11a/n/ac band you have to set the channel-width to 80MHz to support 11ac. Here is the CLI commands to do that.

WLC5760(config)#ap dot11 5ghz shut

WLC5760(config)#ap dot11 5ghz rrm channel dca chan-width 80

WLC5760(config)#no ap dot11 5ghz shut

Once you do this, you can issue the following command to see the what channel AP assigned. You should see 4 channels assigned to 802.11ac support APs in your network

WLC5760#show ap dot11 5ghz summary

That's great...

yes samsung S4 is single spacial stream device & you can get max of 433Mbps. If you got 390Mbps real throughput that is excellent.

If you want higher througput your client should support 3 Spacial stream (Macbook Pro support 3SS) & therotical max of 1.3Gbps (but will be limited to 1Gbps because of 1G port of AP & your switchport)

Macbook air support 2 SS & you can get 867Mbps max.

In practical terms if you get more than 50% of the max value that is really good as multiple clients share the given AP bandwidth at a time.

Pls do not forget to rate our responses if that useful to you

Hi MAC,

Here is a very useful link which inclue all 802.11ac products currently available in the market. If you check the "Adapter" section of this document you will find all the USB adapters which support 802.11ac.

http://wikidevi.com/wiki/List_of_802.11ac_Hardware

When purchasing USB card, make sure it is supporting all the 5GHz frequency channels (some of them are not supporting UNII-3 CH149 to CH161), so you may have limited since then cannot assoicate a AP operate on this band.
