AIR LAP-1142 with A radio disable > POE Consumption ?

Hello,

With have many switches:

WS-C3750-48P       12.2(53)SE

Our controller are Wism on 6509.

We noticed that AP 1142 with A radio disabled (both on access point itself and controller) are still using 15,4 w per ports on the 3750.

We tried to reduce it with "power inline consumption 14000" to gain power on swith, the access became unreliable (B/G radio up/dow, access point rebooting).

We need to save power on these switchs for many reason, is there a way to "force" the access point to use less than 15,4 w ?

(without the solution of power injector)

Hi,

AP 1140 would need 12.95W of power minimum out of 15.4 W and rest is dependent on the length of cable. There are not much options in your case. You could possibly try using a smaller length cable and see if this saves some power.

Note: When deployed using PoE, the power drawn from the power sourcing equipment will be higher by some amount dependent on the length of the interconnecting cable. This additional power may be as high as 2.45W, bringing the total system power draw (access point + cabling) to 15.4W.

You could also try configuring power statically

SW(config-if)#power inline static max <>
