AIR-LAP1042N-A-K9 not joining WLC 5508

Hello,

We have bought 7 APs(AIR-LAP1042N-A-K9) for WLC 5508 and we are unable to join this APs to WLC.

We are trying to connect AP.

AP is connecting to WLC.

Then WLC is sending LAP OS to AP.

AP reboots and we are getting error messages from WLC:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bridge AP can not join MultiCountry Controller: Bridge mode AP 10.38.16.13:15604 cannot be supported on Multi Country Controller

State machine handler: Failed to process msg type = 3 state = 0 from 10.38.16.13:15604

Failed to parse CAPWAP packet from 10.38.16.13:15604

Discarding non-ClientHello Handshake OR DTLS encrypted packet from 10.38.16.13:15604)since DTLS session is not established

We used 7.0.116 and 7.2.103 OS versions for this WLC and there different APs of this model, but we were getting the same error.

Also, WLC is set for only "USA" mode. So it looks like there can’t be MultiCountry issue.

Maybe somebody had similar issue and resolved it?

Hi,

This is pretty strange if you only have a single country code configured. Bridge (Mesh) mode APs are not allowed to join multi-country controllers, and that should be the only reason for this specific error message...

Could you grab the output of a "show country channels" from your WLC?

Also, if the AP is in bridge/mesh mode, you will need to add the AP mac address to the WLC filter/ap policy to allow it to join as well.
