Airplay issues

Hi

I have bt infinity coming in to a draytek 2860 which then connects to a ESW POE cisco switch. Also attached is a 2504 WLC and 5 AP's.

When I connect aiport express directly to draytek, airplay works fine, but if I connect through switch or wireless airplay will not work.

Is there anything I can do to make it work

I Cant access the WLC via gui for some reason so I can only use putty to make any changes.

Can someone please help.

Is there any setting that I need to make on WLC or switch level to make this work.

There are a few things... you can enable multicast on the switch and or use mDNS on the WLC running v7.4 or later.

Bonjour Deployment Guide

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/aironet-1100-series-access-point/113443-cuwn-apple-bonjour-dg-00.html

Bonjour v7.4

Thanks,

Scott

Airplay issues

Hi Scot

Thank you so much for the reply.

I am unable to get on the gui for WLC and the switch does not let me in as it cant get through the username and password. I do not want to reset the switch as I will loose a lot of settings on it. So if I can make the changes on WLC will it work?

Also what options do I have to get on the GUI for wlc as I am sure the ip address is correct but nothing comes up on the web interface.

I am connected to the same subnet.

Do I need to put like a port number at the end or use https ?

Re: Airplay issues

You can try to enable broadcast forwarding, or else upgrade to v7.4.121.0 which has mDNS gateway and that should help.

This link explains mDNS gateway:

Re: Airplay issues

Hi

Thanks for the reply, I went through the links that you posted but is there any way you could help me to go into the WLC in gui mode. I am sure about the ip add on WLC but it would not open the gui interface.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Airplay issues

Try accessing the GUI from a wired device not a wireless device. Try different browsers and try both http/https.

If you can access the GUI after this, reboot the WLC.

Re: Airplay issues

Hi Scott

Thanks for this, it asked me to reboot the router which I did but its still same

http or https on ie or chrome it still does not work

You said try wired so do i connect to console port or port 1 to 4

Hall of Fame Super Silver

Airplay issues

Console port is only CLI.  Is your WLC functional at the moment?  The reason I ask is because something isn't righ either the config is the issue or the image or WLC is corrupt.  Let me know if it is functional.

Thanks,

Scott

Re: Airplay issues

Hi Scott

You mentioned connecting wired to wlc, which port should I use as a wire from port 1 goes to my switch which has all the access points connected to it

I have tried ie, firefox safari and chrome http and https as i enabled that too and nothing comes up.

Hall of Fame Super Silver

Airplay issues

When I say wired... i mean for a machine that is wired to a switch.... the WLC is connected to your network and functional or not?

Thanks,

Scott

Re: Airplay issues

Hi Scott

By functional you mean whether its working or not?

The WLC connects to switch and the switch has 5 access points connected to it and the wireless is working

The switch is connected to about 10 machines and they all are working

Hall of Fame Super Silver

Airplay issues

Okay... well try this in the CLI:

config network mgmt-via-wireless enable

Thanks,

Scott

Re: Airplay issues

Hi Scott

Thank you so much for your help, once I got the gui working everything else after that was easy, I am hoping I will be able to access the gui in future withough having to go through so many problems.

Just wanted to know oe last thing, if i want to add another access point, i can just connect it to the switch and it will configure automatically as that is what I did for the other 5, once WLC was up all the ap's configured automatically.

Re: Airplay issues

Wanted to add the latest 10.9.2 patch appears to have broken AirPlay on MACs. Just a. FYI
