AP 3602I won't load

Hello we have a 5508 controller and mulitiple 3602I APs. One of our APs stopped working. Connected to the console port I can see that the loading process hangs. I formated flash, ran fsck and extracted the latest tar file but I have the same result.

"Loading "flash:/ap3g2-k9w8-mx.152-4.JB6/ap3g2-k9w8-xx.152-4.JB6"..." and the LED is off. What else should I try? tks

Ok, the IOS is corrupt.

One of the easiest solution is to load the autonomous IOS using the Mode button method.  Once the AP boots into autonomous, copy the RCV file back.

Before you copy the RCV file back, make sure you compare the MD5 hash value against the value found in the Cisco website.  They need to match.

Hello Leo, I think that is

Hello Leo, I think that is the process I'm already using. Here is the process I'm using to copy a different Software.

I hold the mode button for a least 20 seconds until I get to the ap: prompt.

I format flash:

ether_init

tftp_init

flash_init

I configure IP, SM, DG

ap: tar -xtract tftp://172.16.16.76/wlc/ap3g2-rcvk9w8-tar.152-4.JB6.tar flash:

I verified the hash and it matches. also flash:/ap3g2-rcvk9w8-mx/ap3g2-rcvk9w8-xx" was extracted from the tar file so i doubt it would be corrupted.

The only thing that make sense is RAM is defective. I'm assuming "Loading" means loading into memory.

Thank you

Hello Leo, if I understand

Hello Leo, if I understand correctly you want me to boot the AP from my tftp server using an Autonomous version of the software and then convert it to lightweight. I guess I will have to contact Cisco because I can't download the autonomous software. I have the message that I need additional entitlement to download it :-(. I don't have that message on the lightweight software.

Looks like I’m in a catch 22.

Looks like I’m in a catch 22. TFTP only works if I issue the command ether_init but I can’t do that in recovery mode or can I? is there a way to call a recovery image from the command line?
