AP Regulatory Domain

I have ordered 2602I LAP with -S regulatory domain (singapore) while I need to opearte the LAP in india.

Need to know if there might be any problem which might arise and relevant solution or rectification for the same.

You need to know that India and Singapore might be using different regulations. so, the max allowed power for example by an AP may differ between both countries.

For example, Singapore may allow a maximum of 20 dBm while India allow max of 17 dBm.

If you use S domain AP your APs may transmit @ 20 dBm which violates the regulations of your country that allows up to 17 dBm only.

This is just an example.

You have to review the regulations of both countries and see where they differ.

Re: AP Regulatory Domain

It's not worth getting in trouble. Like Amjad mentioned, there might be slight differences, but you don't know from a year down the road, someone else will tweak something on that site where the ap is located and your breaking regulations.

AP Regulatory Domain

Hi Amjad,

Thanks for the link. I generally follow that. But this for a colleague and he had this device ordered by sumne else.

My question is agreed, that the regulations may differ with the countries. But I am running this on a WLC which runs RRM algorithm, how will i know exactly if i m breaking some regulations? Will I be a notified or will the LAP not work at all?

AP Regulatory Domain

You will not be notified. But maybe the regulatory body at your country will be notified and catch you so you spend sometime in jail

I don't nkow how it goes about regulations in your country but it is better not to break the rules.

RRM can manage the power but it choose the max power to use based on your country regulations.

Regards,

Amjad
