BVI1 auto change state to down

Hi,

Do you have any devices, a switch or router, connected to your AP?

I was able to recreate the CLI output exactly on my  AP. When you shut then no shut the BVI1 interface, it is normal for the  interface to go up then down if nothing is connected to the AP. This is  the output I get:

*Jan 17 15:38:39.933: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BVI1, changed state to up

*Jan 17 15:38:40.934: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface BVI1, changed state to up

*Jan 17 15:38:48.243: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BVI1, changed state to down

*Jan 17 15:38:49.243: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface BVI1, changed state to down

Interface                  IP-Address      OK? Method Status                Protocol

BVI1                       192.168.10.50   YES manual down                  down

Dot11Radio0                unassigned      NO  unset  up                    up

Dot11Radio1                unassigned      NO  unset  up                    up

FastEthernet0              unassigned      YES manual up                    down

However, when I connect my switch to the AP all links come up and stay up:

Interface                  IP-Address      OK? Method Status                Protocol

BVI1                       192.168.10.50   YES manual up                    up

Dot11Radio0                unassigned      NO  unset  up                    up

Dot11Radio1                unassigned      NO  unset  up                    up

FastEthernet0              unassigned      YES manual up                    up

The only way I could reproduce your output was to  remove the cable from my switch. It looks like you just need a  connection to the AP for the link to stay up. Are you performing this  test before connecting any other device to your AP?

Thanks,

-John
