Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

You can connect a serial cable on the AP to the PC.

If you want to use RJ45 cables:

From AP to PC you need a crossover cable.

From Router to AP, a straight cable should work.

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

Thank you,

I connected the cisco 1130ag Access point to the WRT64G router. I am also console into the 1130ag. during hyperterminal boot it comes with 192.168.1.106 is the IP address for access point. But Unable to access the GUI. Ping is successful. How do I make sure that the AP ip address is 192.168.1.106. It is not giving the show option. not able to get into the global configuration mode from console.

Thank you,

Siva

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

I see that the Access Point has 12.3(11)JX1. C1130-RCVK9W8-M. It is Lightweight mode. Am I correct? Will I not able to get into the GUI in Lightweight mode?

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

Hi ,

Can I keep connected the Access Point to WRT54g and setup TFTP server in 192.168.1.0 netowrk? or

Access Point to Computer with 10.0.0.0 Network for TFTP server as quoted in the earlier reply.

Please suggest me one of this.

Thank you,

Siva

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

Keep it on the 10.0.0.0 network for the conversion

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

I will keep the TFTP server computer IP address to 10.0.0.2. How do i check the connectivity between AP and TFTP server?

Is there any default IP address for the Acccess Point to verify? Can I do ping between these IP address?

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

If you reset the AP, or change the IP to 10.0.0.1 and you set your pc on static ip 10.0.0.2 /24 with the AP as default gateway, it will be able to ping 10.0.0.1.

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

the copy command is not recognised.

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

make sure to rename the AP image name to something like: c1130-k9w7-tar.default on the PC.

Then follow the instructions to reboot the AP, it should download the file automatically from your pc's TFTP server

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

You cant at this point, if you need this file again you could download it from our website

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

I deleted the c1130-rcvk9w8-mx. I also installed tftpd32 on the PC. I have c1130-k9w7-tar.default on the PC desktop. what is default? do I need to have c350-k9w7-tar.123-8.JA2.tar on the desktop to load the image? May I know the right file name?

The access point is at AP: not able to find the image.

it says "download defaunt ios tar image

tftp://255.255.255.255/c1130-k9w7-tar.default

then ap: "

I also unable to ping now. I was able to ping before the deletion of the old image. What should i do now?

Thank you,

Siva

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

The name of the autonomous AP file on your PC should be:

c1130-k9w7-tar.default.

Power down the ap, then hold the mode button. On the console connection with the ap, you will see it when it tries to download the image from TFTP.

If you have the correct image and are correctly connected to the AP, it will start downloading.

You dont have to configure anything on the AP for that.

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

may i know, what is default denotes,

Thank you,

Siva

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

c1130-k9w7-tar.default : default is the extension of the filename. It has to be added.

We are using a little tweak, as usually this is the filename format the WLC (controller) stores the AP file, to be retrieved.

In our scenario we are using your PC to simulate the behavior of a WLC. So the file needs to be called this way, so the AP, when it boots can retrieve it automatically.

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

I appreciate your inputs. I have tried this many times. It comes up with

download default ios tar image

tftp://255.255.255.255/c1130-k9w7-tar.default

ap:

It stops there. I use tftpd32 as tftp server in my PC. The ip address is 10.0.0.2/24 Default gateway of 10.0.0.1

unable to ping 10.0.0.1 during this process. I use cross-over cable between computer and AP.

Thank you,

Siva

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

It's odd that it stops like this, it shouldnt.

are you sure you downloaded an autonomous ap IOS version?

For example:

c1130-k9w7-tar.124-10b.JDA.tar or,

c1130-k9w7-tar.124-3g.JA1.tar

Re: Cables connection to 1130 AG access point

One step I forgot to mention here, that you need: configure TFTP32 on the PC to act as a DHCP server so it gives an ip address to the AP.

Set the TFTP server to 10.0.0.2 /27.

The AP will come up as 10.0.0.1 and will look for the appropreiate IOS

image.
