Cannot Enable Radio on AIR-LAP1041N-E-K9 autonomous

Hi, i have swapped the "flash:/c1140-k9w7-mx.124-25d.JA2" with AIR-LAP1041N-E-K9 ap to make it autonomous and configured the interface BVI1 with ip address 192.168.0.10 255.255.255.0. I can access the GUI too.. but i cannot turn on the dot11 radio. this is what i get from CLI

now suddenly the dot11Radio 0 started to work and i could assign an SSID to it too but dot11Radio 1 cannot be started,.. it returns with

Your AP, specifically a AP1141, only has ONE radio, 802.11b/g.

This specific model does NOT have 802.11 a/n radio.

Ok, sorry,  1041.  Still the same.  The last digit in your model number signifies the amount of radios.  1041 means a single radio (802.11b/g) and 1042 means you have both radios (802.11 a/b/g/n).

Ohh leo by theway at the back of the AP the sticker says Aironet 802.11n single band access point.. so does it mean that it has "n" ?

Hi Prasad,

802.11n is not another band, it can operate in either 2.4GHz (b/g/n) or 5GHz (a/n) which are the two frequency bands.

you shure can run "n" on 2,4 ghz, its recommened to use only 20Ghz Channels aat 2,4 Ghz..

You CANNOT run 802.11n with just 802.11b/g (2.4 Ghz) radio.

802.11n requires 802.11a/n radios.

Christian is Correct. You sure CAN!! run 802.11n on 802.11b/g but as he stated, Cisco recommends only 20Mhz because of channel overlap and interference created when you can only enable 1 x 40Mhz channel. Cisco Channel Deployment Readme

I think Leo got confused with channel bonding on the 2.4ghz, which you can't do.  That AP is 802.11N capable, but the client needs to be N compatible and you also need to follow the standard.  Open and WPA2/AES is supported by 802.11n standard, WEP and WPA/TKIP is not and you will only see up to 144mbps on the 2.4ghz.

Hello,

The access point radios are disabled by default, and there is no default SSID. You must create an SSID and enable the radios before the access point allows wireless associations from other devices. Refer to the "Configuring Basic Security Settings" section for instructions on configuring the SSID.

Follow these steps to enable the radio interfaces:

Step 1 Browse to your access point.

Step 2 When the Summary Status page appears, click 802.11N2.4GHz. The 2.4-GHz radio status page appears.

Step 3 Choose the Settings tab at the top of the page. The Radio Settings page appears.

Step 4 Click Enable in the Enable Radio field.

Step 5 Click Apply.

Step 6 Return to the Summary Status page and click 802.11N5GHz. The 5-GHz radio status page appears.

Step 7 Repeat Steps 3-5.

Step 8 Close your web browser
