For MESH AP's you need to add the Ethernet MAC address to the Mac filter on the WLC. This is a requirement.

Please refer to this guide, adding the Mac filter.

Here is a link specific to the 1552 which you have, but they are all the same. The mesh will not join unless you add the Mesh AP's MAC address to the WLC.

HI Debu,
Can you paste the output of these commands:
From WLC: sh sysinfo
From AP: sh vrsion
Also console to AP and paste the entire bootproess here.
For mesh AP: Dont forget to add MAC address in mac filter list.
Security > AAA > Mac Filter then add the mac of AP here.

As per your post , you have autonomous image on WLC and you need lighweight image to connect to a WLC:
Following are the three type of IOS available & need to download the correct type before starting the conversion process.
For the LWAP conversion, use the recovery image ( e.g c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.124-25d.JAL.tar). We can use the same command on the autonomous AP priviledge mode.
AP5475.d0f5.2ee7#archive download-sw /force-reload /overwrite tftp://IP/xyz-rcvk9w8-tar.......tar

You have an autonomous AP
Cisco IOS Software, C1550 Software (C1520-K9W7-M)
You need to download a lightweight image.

You can download the software here.
c1520-k9w8-tar.152-4.JB3.tar
http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283791419&flowid=24862&softwareid=280775090&release=15.2.4-JB3&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest
K9w7 is autonomous
K9w8 is lightweight
Ways to convert autonomous to lightweight and vice versa. Might be east for you to do the archive download command.

HI Debu,
Something is blocking.....
because AP is getting IP and you can ping the WLC. AP fails to join means that UDP 5246 and or UDP 5247 is being blocked.
If still fails then factory reset the AP with mode buuton
Follow these steps to reset the access point to factory default settings using the access point MODE button:
Step 1Disconnect power (the power jack for external power or the Ethernet cable for in-line power) from the access point
Step 2 Press and hold the MODE button while you reconnect power to the access point.
Step 3 Hold the MODE button until the Status LED turns amber (approximately 1 to 2 seconds), and release the button. All access point settings return to factory defaults.
follow this posts:
http://mrncciew.com/2013/12/13/ap-conversion-using-mode-button/
If still faile then paste the full logs from console of AP.
